As figure skating coaches ourselves, we know how busy you are, so we’ve packaged the latest science-backed information on strength conditioning specific to creating well-rounded figure skaters.

“The exercises are easy to follow especially with the impeccable description given of each one. Not only are we learning new exercises but learning to teach them correctly through the focus area and common errors that are listed.”

FAQs

No- but as a BSP coach, you will have access to jump into any of our courses as a refresher for FREE. The manual will serve as a reference, as well as, having access to our BSP Coaches facebook group for extra support.

Why should I get “certified?”

We want coaches to feel confident in delivering a system of proven age-appropriate methods that comes form a trusted source. Since there is no accredited association where coaches can learn and be recognized for their expertise in off-ice training, this serves as a measure of excellence clubs, peers, and parents can depend on. We want you to be the leaders in your communities delivering the most cohesive program out there.

The rink(s) I coach at don’t have a training room. Will this program still work?

The Balanced Skaters team intentionally created exercises that don't require fancy props or equipment. All you need is a mat, 2 yoga blocks, and open space (locker room or lobby). Pop-up off ice conditioning can be a fun way to facilitate classes every week. We want to make this as convenient as possible for coaches while having the maximum impact for skaters. This course will give you practical solutions and on-going support.

My skaters take off-ice classes from a local trainer. What will this course do for me?

While having an outside trainer isn’t necessarily ineffective, outside trainers don’t typically have a skating background. Without a deep subject matter knowledge of figure skating, it’s hard to choose techniques that actually complement the skills your students are learning on the ice. Our programs were developed to address the unique demands that ice skating places on your students’ bodies, apply techniques that translate into better on-ice movement, and improve strength & injury resistance. We encourage local trainers to join the Balanced Skaters Platform to use our programs as guidance & reference our exercises when planning their own off-ice training sessions.

Do I need a degree in kinesiology or personal training to take this course?

No- Although it would help to have a modicum of knowledge or experience in off-ice conditioning, we will dive into each subject matter with enough breadth and depth that will give you the leg up than the average skating coach.
